Dance Photography for Colorado Ballet 2016-17 Campaign

Shooting dance photography for companies evolved from using dancers for a personal project many years ago.  I needed models that could not only know where their body was in space, but also bring emotion to the images.  Upon looking at some early images of the "Defining Eden" series, a fellow artist suggested shifting from models to dancers.  After the first five minutes of shooting, I knew I would always look for dancers to collaborate with not only for their passion, tenacity and focus, but also their ability to create emotional impact through gesture and movement.

Having these wonderful experiences shooting on my own project, I became curious to watch these new friends perform with their companies, and began to create relationships with artistic directors who would ask me to shoot for their programs.

This year marks the ninth year of shooting for Colorado Ballet, and the first year teaming up with Scream Agency for the creative.  It was a wonderful collaboration, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to support one of the great cultural assets of Colorado.
